You don't have to pledge anything or buy anything you don’t want or need. We would like to ask that you consider donating your old used tennis shoes through our drive with Green Sneakers. Your used sneakers are worth more than you think! Support The Echo Park Time Bank (CRSP) with your used shoes by dropping them at Fix Coffee 2100 Echo Park Ave L.A. CA 90026 between Dec 9th-31st. There will also be a drop box at the Silverlake Holiday Night Out event on Saturday, Dec 17th. Bring the shoes to the Complimentary Booth at the Satellite parking lot (1717 Silver Lake Boulevard).

By donating your used tennis shoes you will not only be supporting our organization but you will also help protect our environment and contribute to the economies and well being of developing countries. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our drive and thank you in advance for helping our cause.

Green Sneakers pays the Echo Park Time Bank up to $.50 a pound for the shoes. With an average pair of shoes weighing in at about 2 pounds, that's roughly $1 a pair. Eventually the shoes go to a sorting facility where Green Sneakers staff process the collection, keeping them from the local landfill and making them ready for distribution to other people in need. Ultimately The Echo Park Time Bank hopes to gather at least 1,000 pairs of sneakers to help support our 2012 operating costs and Time Bank software renewal.

Please be sure to tie the laces together when you drop off the shoes! You may also make a tax deductible donation on our Give Page.

Thank You!

1. Visit http://www.echoparktimebank.com./
2. Read “How it works” and determine if you endorse the Core Values.
3. Click “How to Apply,” where you will find application and reference forms to complete.
4. Also at “Howto Apply” you will find a link to register on the time bank on-line software (Community Weaver). Do that.
5. Drum your fingers until the next application review (Sun., Nov. 6).
6. Plan to attend the next orientation on Sat., Nov. 12. (You will be invited to it in the email indicating your acceptance into the time bank.) (Prepare to pay the one time membership donation of $10-40 ... sliding scale.)
7. At any point, direct questions here or at the website or at info@echoparktimebank.com!

Now, when will we be getting that application?Co-productionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14329179694932289222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2256677443195186784.post-52992182685295978862011-10-27T10:04:00.000-07:002011-11-03T07:58:19.990-07:00Echo Park Progressive Alliance Kickoff Mixer, 11/3Come help inform the direction of the nascent Echo Park Progressive Alliance (EPPA) at a “kickoff mixer,” Thursday, 11/3, 6:00-8:30 p.m. at The Echo back patio, Sunset Blvd. near Lemoyne. Residents and business owners of Echo Park and surrounding neighborhoods are invited!

“The goal of the EPPA is to foster professional and social connections between progressive stakeholders in the Echo Park community, broadly construed. This can take many forms, from sharing information and resources, to supporting each others' enterprises and events, to developing and advocating approaches to matters affecting our community and world. We all go off and do our specialized work every day; let's get together and remember what we all have in common. As a first step, however, we need to figure out who "we" are. Thus, we are inviting anyone who is interested in our mission to join us for a meet-and-greet on November 3, at 6:00 p.m., at the outdoor patio at the Echo. Everyone welcome; please invite anyone you think might have an interest. Free pizza; buy your own beer/booze.” (from the Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=231548456893768 )
