Join the Long Beach Time Exchange as we celebrate the launch of a time bank in our community.
The official kickoff event will be held from 1-4pm on Sunday, September 12th at the 2nd City Council Art Gallery at 435 Alamitos Ave. in Long Beach.
The Long Beach Time Exchange kickoff will feature food, comedy, live music, and information about time banking—a system where community members give and receive services using “time dollars” ...rather than money.
In a time bank, community members help each other with all sorts of things: tutoring, running errands, childcare, massage, gardening, learning new skills and hobbies—just about anything.
Each hour a person gives or receives is worth one time dollar. And it’s not necessarily a one-to-one exchange; the time bank connects the whole community.
The Long Beach Time Exchange is the latest in a network of time-bank communities that have been popping up all over the United States and in 26 countries around the world.
Applications to join the Long Beach Time Exchange will be available at the kickoff event.
