Southern California Time Banks at L.A. Green Festival, 10/29-30

The Arroyo Time Bank, Echo Park Time Bank and Long Beach Time Exchange will all three be represented on panels on the first day of the two-day L.A. Green Festival at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

On Saturday, October 29, the Sustainable Home and Garden Pavilion will be the venue for "Time Banking Works!" at 1:00 p.m., featuring Janine Christiano (Arroyo Time Bank), Autumn Rooney (Echo Park Time Bank) Sarah McGowan (Echo Park Time Bank), Tony Damico, Christine Petit (Long Beach Time Exchange)

At 3:00 p.m. at the same location, Lois Arkin (LA Eco Village) will join Alisa Gravitz (Green America) and Jonathan Mariano (Panel Moderator, Triple Pundit) for a panel entitled "My Brother-in-Law is a Global Warming Denier."

The Arroyo Time Bank is hosting it's 2nd Free Market. The first one held inside the Armory Center for the Arts was a great success and now we are expanding and heading outdoors during The City of Pasadena's Greening the Earth Day & Armory Family Arts Festival. Free performances all day, free craft workshops, and our Free Market!

This is a Really, Really Free Market you do not need to bring a thing! Feel free just to come, take, and enjoy. There's so much for everyone. We have some items already donated, but we welcome drop offs of items throughout the day. To assist Arroyo Time Bank members/volunteers and to minimize car trips to and from the park and Goodwill, we encourage people to take back items that they bring that are not taken by the end of the event, this is not mandatory and all things left will be dropped off at the Pasadena Goodwill by Arroyo Time Bank members-we just want to minimize car trips back and forth if we can. We do have a need for set-up volunteers early in the day, but again this is not mandatory. As a thank you and courtesy, set-up volunteers will be given first dibs during our early bird preview, BUT there will be plenty of items and activities throughout the day. The Arroyo Time Bank Free Market will be held in Memorial Park in Pasadena as part of The City of Pasadena Greening the Earth Day &Armory Family Arts Festival. We will have tables set up in the Northwest area of the park, there will be signs posted.

Set-up begins at 7am,
there will be a special “preview sale” for all volunteers who helped to set up from 10am-11am,
the Free Market opens at 11:00am and closes at 3:30pm.
Clean up/Goodwill drop off is from 3:30pm-4:30pm.


We ask that you decide to bring items please bring only usable goods, clean clothes, and unprepared produce (nothing cut or cooked) as part of Health Dept. code.

The Arroyo Time Bank is hosting a Really Free Market Bazaar at the Armory Center
for the Arts in Pasadena. The Bazaar will be similar to a typical bizarre with
an eclectic mix of items, food, and entertainment except no money will be
exchanged. We will have crafts, music from children's band Earthworm Ensemble,
and speakers from several community groups on topics including Freeganism, What
is a Time Bank?, Your Ecological Footprint, Living Car Light, Food Co-ops, and
Community Partnerships. Please come, share some food,
get rid of items you don't need, take something you do need.

Arroyo Time Bank meets this Sunday 6/28/09

Please come and join us for next Arroyo Time Bank meeting and potluck this Sunday from 6-8pm at the Casting Pond in the Lower Arroyo Park in Pasadena. We will be discussing time banking, the ins and outs of using community weaver, hearing from other members, and discussing future plans. Come and help us build a better community...and have some food too! All are welcome!

The Arroyo Time Bank is a collective of residents from Pasadena, Northeast Los Angeles, and surrounding neighborhoods who exchange time and skills with one another to transform our community. We invite you to join us as we build relationships through service, share resources with one another, and empower our neighborhoods through our contributions. To get to the Casting Pond take California Blvd west until it dead ends at Arroyo Blvd which skirts the canyon. Make a right at Arroyo Blvd., make a left at the service road, which is the first place to make a left. Take the service road down and park in the parking lot which is just past the Casting Pond. There will be signs and we will be at a picnic table.
