Urban Homestead at M&A

The lecture at Materials and Applications was very fun! Everyone listened to the talk through transistor radios connected to the mic. We sat around Yakuza Lou's origami installation like a robotic bon fire. If you haven't seen the installation, we highly recommend you stop by M&A and see it before it comes down in March.

We got to meet, our fellow lecturer, Erik Knutzen of Homegrown Evolution. Erik and his wife Kelly Coyne are bringing back the wisdom of Home Economics for modern times. Their do it yourself philosophy is inspiring and very necessary as we plummet into this depression... I mean "deep, deep recession". Thier book, "Urban Homestead: Your Guide to Self-sufficient Living in the Heart of the City" teaches you how to make grey water systems, grow and forage your own food, make cheese and beer, use natural alternatives to toxic cleansers and much more. We are very honored to have Erik and Kelly as VIP members of The Echo Park Time Bank.

Yard sale and bake sale to benefit Oak Glen Nursery School

Hello, all. Please join as at our "Fall bazaar and bake sale" fundraiser for Oak Glen Nursery School -- FABULOUS stuff like furniture, CDs, books and lots of things without names.

The bake sale is organized by two parents, one of them a professional pastry chef (Spago) and cookbook author. Bake sale offerings will include pre-made pie-crusts and pre-made cookie dough, which, we all know, is better than baked....

Hope to see you Saturday -- at Peter Shire's studio grounds:
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
1850 Echo Park Ave. (near Effie)
