Hollywood Community Garden talk

Echo Park Time Bank member Leonardo Chalupowicz will give a talk this Saturday, 10/22, at 10 a.m. at the Hollywood Community Garden, SW corner of Mansfield St. and Fountain Ave. in Hollywood. The goal is to create community enthusiasm and support for the garden. Topics to be addressed:

• Why school and community gardens?
• Ecosystems
• Experiment, observe, fail/succeed
• Primary productivity
• Case study: Micheltorena school and community

“Off the Grid Solar Basics,” Sat. 10/29

Echo Park Time Bank member Aaron Murphy, who just completed a solar panel and battery installation at the Micheltorena Garden, will conduct a talk on "Off the Grid Solar Basics," Saturday, 10/29, at 11 AM. Aaron’s presentation will be part of the school's Great Pumpkin Festival. Admission is $1 to raise funds for after school programs and outings. Micheltorena Garden is located at the northwest corner of Sunset and Micheltorena in Silver Lake.

The Micheltorena School Community Garden - Ice cream!

The Micheltorena School Community Garden invites you help garden this Saturday, May 28th from 10AM-1PM.

The Ben & Jerry's truck will stop by to give yummy ice cream to all that are there helping out.

Come help us move soil from the garden to the playground's planter and weed the pumpkin patch, in preparation for the planting of pumpkin seeds for our first annual GIANT PUMPKIN FESTIVAL in october.   Or pull weeds from our beds and paths, or turn the mulch, or bring a musical instrument and regail the plants and gardeners with your songs!~
